Melissa is an actress, writer and producer known for her original web series Missed Connections Live.
Melissa was born and raised in Highland Park, Il. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northwestern University and began her acting career in Chicago where she appeared in critically acclaimed productions of The Wild Party as Nadine and Riders to the Sea at The Artistic Home as Nora. Her performance as Nora was reviewed as "fervent" by The Chicago Tribune.
Melissa moved to New York City where she currently resides. She has worked extensively in theater, from a tour of A Chorus Line to leads in Off-Off Broadway plays. Her latest project, The Giver, is a collaboration with famed director Wynn Handman, who trained many outstanding actors including: Alec Baldwin, James Caan, Kathleen Chalfant, Chris Cooper, Michael Douglas, Richard Gere, Joel Grey, Allison Janney, Raul Julia, Frank Langella, John Leguizamo, Burt Reynolds, Tony Roberts, Anna Deveare Smith, Mira Sorvino, Christopher Walken, Denzel Washington, and Joanne Woodward.
Melissa caught the attention of Alrick Brown, who's feature "Kinyarwanda" won the Audience Choice Award at Sundance (2011). She appears in his film Us: A Love Story as a frustrated teacher. She is also a choice actress of up-and-coming writer/director Lee Manansala.
In 2010 Melissa launched a production company Love Bean Monkey Productions
who’s mission is to foster the independent spirit by seeking character-driven content that provokes and challenges, and most importantly, entertains audiences.
